2025 PINE RIVER DEMO DERBY RULES

COMPACT CARS

  • Front-Wheel Drive Cars: Allowed with a 113-inch wheelbase max and V6 or less factory.

  • Rear-Wheel Drive Cars: Allowed with a 108-inch wheelbase max.

Bumpers:

  • Any factory-loaded bumper or homemade bumper (8-inch max spread over 32 inches, no sharp points).

  • 18 inches max to the bottom of the bumper.

  • You can hard-nose the bumper and shorten the frame to the core support.

  • Mounting options: 6-inch plate, bolt, or chain (plate must start at the bumper).

  • Allowed to weld frame and subframe together with the bumper bracket.

Frame Plates or Repair:

  • Allowed 2 4”x4” fix-it plates per frame rail (4 total per car).

  • Hood bolt all-thread plate must not exceed ½ inch past the threaded rod.

  • Rust repair: Allowed 2 inches past rust with 1/8-inch max plate steel (thicker plates count as fix-it plates).

  • Allowed to connect frame and subframe in one extra spot besides the bumper bracket.

Doors, Trunks, and Hoods:

  • Doors: Can be mounted shut by welding, chains, or bolts.

    • If welded: 20 inches of plate per seam max (chains/wire not allowed).

    • If chained/wired: 6 chains/wires per door max (only one may wrap around the frame).

  • Hoods:

    • Must have a 12-inch inspection hole.

    • Can be chained or bolted in a maximum of 6 spots.

    • All-thread through the core support down to the subframe is allowed.

  • Trunks:

    • Can be bolted with 2 all-thread.

    • Can be bolted, chained, or welded (20 inches of plate per seam max if welded).

    • Chain: 4 spots max on the trunk lid.

Fenders:

  • Allowed to bolt through fender with 4 bolts total per fender (3/8-inch max bolts, 2”x2”x1/8” washers max).

  • Body shaping is allowed.

Subframes:

  • Pucks may be removed.

  • No stuffing of subframes.

  • No welding anywhere unless specified in the rules.

  • Subframes can be bolted back through the floor with factory-sized bolts.

  • The front can be bolted all the way through the core support.

Body:

  • Rust repair allowed with factory thickness plate steel (2 inches past rust max).

  • No plating of the firewall.

Cage:

  • 4-point cage required.

  • Halo bar allowed, welded to the cage only.

  • 4 down bars allowed (must go only to floor tin).

  • Gas tank protector allowed but must not touch sheet metal.

  • Cage max length: 66 inches from the frontmost part of the cage back.

  • Battery box and transmission cooler may be bolted to the cage or floor, but not both.

Engine (Factory V6 or Less):

  • Allowed: Headers.

  • Not Allowed: Cradles, header protectors, carb protectors.

  • Square tubing may replace factory mounts but must not reinforce the car.

Radiator:

  • May have a ¼-inch max plate steel in front of the radiator, bolted to the core support (no welding).

Tires:

  • No tire rule.

Front End:

  • Allowed to run 2x4x4 tubing behind the strut tower to prevent bending (welded to frame only).

  • Strut spacers allowed to achieve bumper height.

  • Factory struts and steering must be used.

Gas Tanks:

  • Factory gas tanks must be removed.

  • Replacement tanks must be mounted inside the car.

  • No plastic gas tanks.

  • Gas tank protectors required.

Batteries:

  • Must be removed from factory location and mounted inside the car.

  • Secure mounting required.

  • Bolted-down battery box is strongly recommended.

Aftermarket Parts:

  • Allowed: Tuned ECMs, shifters, headers, carb swaps, transmission coolers.

 

General Rule:

If it doesn’t say it in the rules, don’t do it!
